On May 13th, we gathered cables at Schweinfurt Market Square, totaling 1,194 kilograms, and raised €2,574.26 for our partner school's solar panel project.
We've all dealt with the tangled mess of cables at home: chargers, phone cords, and various connectors cluttering drawers, making it hard to keep track of what goes where. To support the construction of a solar panel system, the project seminar "Living Spaces - Here and Elsewhere" at Walther Rathenau Gymnasium is running a cable collection campaign.
On Saturday, May 13, 2023, drop off your cables at Schweinfurt Market Square from 10 am to 3 pm during "Future Week Mainfranken." Rathenau students can also bring cables to school from May 8th to May 12th. This student-led solar project is supported by the recycling efforts of "Agenda 2030" and "People4Future."
The cables we collect will be received by Riwald Recycling Franken GmbH in Sennfeld. They specialize in recycling the valuable copper found in these cables. The funds generated from this process will directly contribute to our project: installing solar panels at our partner school. This initiative represents our ongoing effort to secure the remaining donations needed.
